Virus, malware etc. / hacking - Internet sharing / hotspot

Dear all

I have an iphone.

I have a laptop with Windows installed.

My iphone is not jailbroken. It is full updated. I have no suspicious apps installed.

1.

Can my iphone get virus, malware etc.?

If yes:

Suggestions for apps to scan for virus, malware etc. on iphone?

2.

Can iphone virus, malware etc. infect a Windows system?

Can Windows virus, malware etc. infect an iphone?

I have used my iphones internet sharing / hotspot, to connect my laptop to the internet.

3.

Can my iphone spread virus, malware etc. to my laptop, if the lapotop use the iphones internet sharing / hotspot?

4.

If my iphone is hacked, can the hacker then get access to my laptop, if the laptop is connected to the iphones internet sharing / hotspot?

5.

Iphone internet sharing / hot spot, is that like a network, where all units connected

can see and “interact” with eachother?

Thank you

Best regards

  1. There are no known viruses in the wild that can infect an iphone that has not been jailbroken. Even if there were, a virus written for an ios device could not infect a windows device and vice versa.
  2. See above.
  3. See above. Your Windows PC is just as vulnerable to viruses and malware as it has always been. It doesn’t matter if you’re using the hotspot from your phone, secure WiFi, public WiFi, or the internet connection from a corporate network.
  4. 4. Your iphone can’t be hacked.
  5. No. All the hotspot does is provide an internet connection. It does not allow connected devices to access the phone.
