Iphone Exchange

My inlaw bought iPhone 14 Pro max in Texas, Houston on 31st Dec,22 and he was given an Esim one whereas he did mention if it can be used in the international market basically Tanzania,and they said yes!

Now in Tanzania we do not have ESim system so we had to send it back to the US for exchange.

My question is: Would we be given Iphone 14 Pro max with a sim slot?? Once we return the one we bought in its box?

And if yes...That would be great! If not then what would be the best way forward as I need the iPhone 14 Pro max.

Please advice.

No. There are no iPhone 14s in the US with sim slots. All iPhone 14s sold in the US are eSim only. There is no way for Apple to exchange it for one with a SIM card slot in the US.

If you need an iPhone 14 with a physical sim tray, you will need buy it in a country that sells those. Preferably in the country you intend to use it in.

The best course forward is to return the iPhone for a full refund and use the money to buy the correct model in the country you wish to use it in. You have 14 days to return the iPhone to Apple for a full refund no questions asked.

Past that time, Apple will not take it back and will not refund you. You would need to sell it privately and use the money to buy a model that works in your country.

Apple does not sell iPhone 14s with sim slots in the US. They are all eSIM. Was this purchased at an Apple Store or at an authorized Apple retailer? The best thing would be to return the iPhone (for a refund) to the retailer in the US then purchase the iPhone in your own location.
