How do I change the wallpaper from shortcuts in iOS 16?

I used to have an automation that would allow me to have a daytime wallpaper and a nighttime wallpaper, but iOS 16 broke the automation because now it just makes a new wallpaper every time it changes it so when I run out of room for new wallpapers it just sets it to a black screen. Is there a new shortcut method for choosing between two already made wallpapers or did apple make it where we can change the wallpaper automatically at sunset and sunrise? Seems like a major oversight from apple of they took away this option and didn’t make a new one.

Thanks but I have two photos with my boyfriend, one during the day and one at night that I want to use so there actually is a need for it. I tried the shuffle album but it doesn’t have an option for scheduling it, only hourly and daily.

There's no need for the Shortcuts app with Apple's new Live Weather wallpaper for the Lock Screen & Home Screen(s). It will display a background image of the current weather in your location – so a dynamically changing sunny, cloudy, or rainy, etc. "sky". The screenshots below of my Home Screen show only a small sample of the possibilities – at sunrise, mid-morning and night:

Open Settings > Tap Wallpaper > Tap “+Add New Wallpaper” > Tap blue Weather icon at top right > Tap "Add" at top right > Tap "Set as a Wallpaper Pair" > Swipe up from the bottom to finish.

Also check these:

Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Location Services = ON

...Then scroll down to Weather, tap it and:

Always = Checked

Precise Location = ON
