Where is "My Documents" on iPad?

On iPad, when I receive an email with an attachment, I am given an opportunity to save the attachment. When I press Save, a message appears: "Saved to My Documents." But where is that? I cannot find an application or icon named "My Documents." In fact I can never find the attachment again, unless I go back into the email app, which rather negates the fact of "saving" the document in question. Any help, explanation or suggestions gratefully received. Also feel free to call me stupid.

Hi, thanks for the reply. But it doesn't get me any farther forward. No, I did not create a folder called My Documents. No, I am not given any choice of location or folder, it gets saved to My Documents and that's it. I cannot find any application, icon or folder with "documents" in the title. Searching for "documents" with the Search function yields zero results. So the whole My Documents thing that s still a mystery.

Have you created a folder called “My Documents” - as this descriptor is synonymous with folders found on a Windows PC.

When you save an attachment from Mail, you’ll be able to save the file to a location (on your iPad, iCloud or other storage location) and folder of your choice.

If you can’t remember where you saved the document, you can search for it by name (or partial name) using your iPad’s built-in Search function:

Have you updated your iPad to the current version of iPadOS? At time of writing, this is iPadOS 16.2.
