Can I just get a new cable for my old Thunderbolt display?

I have an older thunderbolt display (2011, model A1407) and the main cable (the one that can't be unplugged) for connecting to my laptop is totally fried. The display's power cord is fine though so I'm hoping I can use one of the other holes to connect to my laptop, but I want to double check before I add to my already extensive cable/dongle collection :P

This is, correct me of I'm wrong, Thunderbolt 1:

Should I be able to get a Thunderbolt 1 male -> USB-C male cable (or series of dongles to create that) to connect this old display to my new macbook? Or is this display toast?

Thanks in advance!

Connect a Thunderbolt 2 adapter to a Thunderbolt 3 port on the MacBook.

Connect a Thunderbolt cable from the adapter to the Thunderbolt port on the back of the display.

You can also use an adapter to power the MacBook Pro from the display.
