Do I need an Apple Music subscription to continue to use songs in my iTunes library?

Many songs in my iTunes library did not sync with my iPhone 13, even though I have them saved on my computer. Existing playlists on my iPhone disappeared right after updating to the latest version of iTunes, and now they won't sync with my iPhone. Is an Apple music subscription now required? I am looking at the the support article "If songs are missing from your music library after you turn on Sync library."

No, an Apple music subscription not required.

I don't subscribe to Apple Music here either.
