Any fix for dolby atmos problems?

Any fixes for Dolby atmos stuttering poor sound? I have a Polk Magnifi mini ax that supports Dolby atmos. But when atmos is turned on it’s horrible! If I turn off atmos it’s fine. If I use my Samsung apps the atmos is perfect.

I have tried every setting I can think of and even different hdmi cables, but no luck.

Do ask Polk Audio about their support for the Dolby Atmos in Dolby MAT format that Apple TV uses. You will want confirmation that both devices “talk the same language”, and if that needs special settings or hardware (e.g. TV with eARC).

I will look into that more. But have discovered if I turn Dolby atmos on in the format screen and watch a show or movie that supports atmos it’s fine. But if I leave that setting and watch a sitcom or something without atmos that’s when the problems start. I thought the Apple TV would take care of this but it doesn’t. So is annoying to have to change this setting every time. Is this the way it’s supposed to be?

Then the issue is different, and MAT is supported just fine by your audio system.

It should. The Atmos setting only applies to content that has Atmos available to stream. Else you would get PCM Multichannel: 7.1 or 5.1 or 2.0 or 1.0, whichever is the highest supported available audio in the stream.

Can you describe what is so “horrible” about it?

It’s hard to describe exactly, but it’s almost like a constant crackling sound, normally during dialogue. Kind of like a blown speaker or when a needle on a record player skips (sorry if the reference doesn’t help).

I first thought it was the soundbar, but when turning atmos off in audio format on the atv everything is fine and normal.

I've just started looking at this issue, as I've been considering the purchase of a Sonos Arc Dolby Atmos soundbar. Everything I've read on the Sonos community support board and the AVS Forum boards seems to indicate that the Apple TV 4K (current model) uses some form of Dolby Atmos (MAT) that's not compatible with a lot of audio gear out there. The "solution" always seems to be "Turn off Dolby Atmos", which to me seems absurd. Why buy Dolby Atmos gear if it won't work with an ATV4K?

I, for one, am holding off purchasing anything until I see this issue's been resolved by Apple.

I have similar issues with my Yamaha RX-A1050, which Dolby Atmos capable. I just upgraded my speakers and used two of the old speakers for my Atmos speakers. I am currently using an Apple Music trial subscription. It's awesome....until...Dolby Atmos is enabled. After playing a while, the Yamaha receiver begins switching the surround sound modes on it's own. The music playing then becomes unstable and unpredictable. The Apple TV is model A1842 (32GB). tvOS is 16.2. I am using a 3 meter HDMI cable that handles 18Gbps I called Yamaha tech support. They don't think the problem is on their end. I've had the Dolby Atmos disabled on the A1842 for about a week now. I watched Jack Ryan on our Comcast cable box (using the Prime Video app). The Yamaha receiver processed the Dolby Atmos without issues. I'm hoping there will be a solution as I want to keep using Apple Music on my Dolby Atmos 5.2.2 audio system. HELP!!
