Screentime/parental control not working

Hello,

with the latest updates for IOS I am having issues with my kids screentime and apps limits. Both have Iphone 13mini ios 16.2, me iphone 13 pro also updated to 16.2.

issue is following, once I setup on both phones the app limits they do not work. From some reason the app limit turns off (and no my kids don’t know the password as I have tried relentlessly with different passwords). Now I am also experiencing issue that onc I setup screen time I can literally see it turning off and askim me to set up it again.

Have tried restarting, deleting all and backing up, erasing all settings and still nothing…

up to version 16 it was working without issues and also on iphones se2020 and 7s - no issues.

can somebody help?

thanks

Devon

I have the same issue - it's been a problem for *years* - at the beginning I understood this was a new product and might be glitchy, but after so long, this is not worthy of apple's reputation for quality products.

  • screentime randomly stops working
  • takes forever to update
  • when you try to add app limits, it glitches and freezes there infinitly
  • if you miracly succeed in adding app limit, the child can just postpone forever asking for additional five minutes

We live in an era where everyone is trying to capture our teen's attention in permanence, and uses incredibly sneaky ways to keep them addicted to their apps. No, we are not always physically with them checking, teens are starting to gain in independence, they go to school, to their friend's, ect... we need ways to manage their technology effectively - this is a matter of protecting our children. Apple should do better.

I never follow apple support when they start troubleshooting my saying reset, delete device etc. That is a non-technical and incompetent approach. Apple buy time by putting those incompetent resources and in the back end work on bugs. It's a known bug now that on IOS 16 Parental Control won't work. Only difference is Apple is not accepting it.

Hi Devon,

I have the exact same issue with my kids screentime. I called Apple Support and now I am waiting for second level support to come back with a solution. Apple asked me if I was using a vpn on my iphone, apparently that can cause these glitch issues. I also have parental controls setup on my Asus router to limit Wi-Fi access for certain devices. Could that interfere with Apple screen time?

best regards,

Mike
