Horizontal lines on screen, 2022 M1 Pro MacBook Pro, 14 inch

I Brought a new Mac two days ago and it has developed a horizontal line on the display. Did any of you experienced the same issue? I don't know whether it's a software or hardware issue.

Nope ! It seems like a manufacturing defect and apple does not fix it even so i had to return it to bestbuy. Doesn’t seem fair to me as i believe some of these devices should be recalled for such as i saw a lot of people having the same issue. And apple online/ store none of them helped me out replace the device just because i bought it from bestbuy. Had a really bad experience!

I went to the Apple Store on 16 Jan and getting it back tomorrow 27 Jan, so 11 days. It took longer cause it was shipped out of state (Sydney). Your case may vary depending on where you live. I've attached the repair status below. It arrived in Sydney on the 18th. As for when the repair was completed it's not clear cause there are two dates with the same status

Take a screenshot of the display. Then view the screenshot making sure to move the picture down a bit to see if you see the line in the screenshot as well (you don't want to have it overlapping with the actual line that is always there). Or view the screenshot on an external display or another device. If the line is not visible in the screenshot, then it means you have a hardware issue with the laptop's built-in Display which will need to be replaced by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

I suspect the LCD Panel is bad and will need to have the Display Assembly replaced. Should be covered by warranty as long as there are no signs of accidental damage.

The report said there was a problem with the Lid Angle Sensor (according to MacRumors this sensor "monitors the opening and closing of the notebook and the precise position of the lid.").

So they replaced that sensor as well as the display.

Regarding the warranty, the report said: "The replacement parts are covered by a 90 day service warranty or the remainder of your warranty [Apple Limited Warranty] or Apple Care Agreement. You might have additional rights under consumer law."

My device is a little over a year old (1 year, 3 months) so both the 90 day service warranty and Apply Limited Warranty (1 year from product purchase) expired. I don't have Apple Care either. So it was fixed for free based on the Australian Consumer Law.

Hi! An update. We've got the same issue, submitted my MacBook last Sunday. I received an update today that it was diagnosed with "Display Assembly and Angle Lid Sensor Defect". Unfortunately, it might take 3-5 weeks from ordering parts to release lol. Oh well, I bought a temporary Laptop with OLED screen which is same quality with Retina. I swear laptop displays now are so bad after switching to MacBook haha
