The report said there was a problem with the Lid Angle Sensor (according to MacRumors this sensor "monitors the opening and closing of the notebook and the precise position of the lid.").
So they replaced that sensor as well as the display.
Regarding the warranty, the report said: "The replacement parts are covered by a 90 day service warranty or the remainder of your warranty [Apple Limited Warranty] or Apple Care Agreement. You might have additional rights under consumer law."
My device is a little over a year old (1 year, 3 months) so both the 90 day service warranty and Apply Limited Warranty (1 year from product purchase) expired. I don't have Apple Care either. So it was fixed for free based on the Australian Consumer Law.
