It’s easy,SMANN101… and please don’t post in ALL CAPS… go to the large Apple icon, top left of your screen, then go to system preferences, print and fax, you should see a big window with ( + and -) at the bottom. Click “+” to add printer… printer should be turned on and connected to your MacBook Pro.. brother says they’ll support up to Mac OS 10.15.. if you want Mac OS 13 support, get the Brother iPrint&Scan App from the App Store, per this link : https://help.brother-usa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/150551/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xNjczNjUzODEyL2dlbi8xNjczNjUzODExL3NpZC9mVVVPMTU0bG1EUzR1RU96OWJIMHZaZWVpQzdhdXNHYTdfbTF3RzFpcndaOF9sTVklN0VUc21kV0xTZ0F4OW5uUDRQZV9pbWxkUyU3RXZ0JTdFbVBTZUlxN0olN0V4NTN5dDl4a2tUdkFlRXBsRGxQelBjN1FTWkxYQXY2UFhCQSUyMSUyMQ%3D%3D

The Generic PCL Driver works adequately for most simple print jobs, but it's not as good as a Brother driver.
I was able to download the Brother driver for Mac 10.15.x and install it on my m1 MacBook Pro running OS 13.2, and then select the Brother HL-2270DW CUPS driver during printer add process. It works adequately as well, not perfect though.
One last thing you can try is to install the printer driver for the Brother HL-2300D from Brother's websites which supports OS 13.x and then select one of the available drivers for your printer.
The Brother iPrint&Scan App is not useful as it will simply display a message that says that the 2270DW is not supported on this OS. They're trying to get you to buy a newer printer.
Hi,
For some other Brother models, a macOS 10.15 Catalina driver has worked, at least with one subsequent system version. You could perhaps check whether the Catalina driver (1.5.0) can be used even under macOS 13 Ventura, but that would be entirely experimental. Do not do anything unless you have backup copies of all important files. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out.

A printing system reset may be needed before/between tests.
Reset the printing system on your Mac to solve a problem – Apple Support (UK)
Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac – Apple Support (UK)
The HL-2270DW specifications indicate that PCL 6 emulation is supported, so if nothing else helps, you may want to test a generic PCL printer driver as well.
Also, if USB does not work, try a network connection via a Wi-Fi router (Ethernet or Wi-Fi) instead. Or, vice versa.
Have you downloaded the latest drivers for the printer? You can download them from brothers site
Hi brianthedrummer,
Thank you for confirming that the generic PCL driver and the macOS 10.15 CUPS printer driver work, albeit only adequately.
