Phantom finder window descriptions

While I am using any program, aside from the finder window, I am getting pop up descriptions from the finder window. Like I'm hovering over the side menu and the item I might be hovering over pops up. I have restarted. I've made sure all finder windows are closed. I really don't know what else to do. I can't take a screen shot to share because when I move the mouse the popup disappears. I am on an M1 MacBook Air with the most current OS.

Hey there cmhansen1269,

We recommend using the guidance below to change how your folders open, which might help resolve this issue:

Set how all folders open
1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Desktop & Dock in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
2. Go to Windows & Apps on the right, click the pop-up menu next to “Prefer tabs when opening documents,” then choose an option:
• Never: Open folders in a new window, not a tab.
• Always: Open folders in a new tab.
• In Full Screen: Open folders in a tab only when you’re working in full screen.
