My model MKT22LL/A i phone 6s with software version 15.7.2 can NOT download the app for the Apple 8 watch.
Which "Model" of the Apple watch app's will be compatible with this phone?
I would like to have an Apple watch with fall detection which requires an app on my i phone.

You would have to get hold of a Watch which has not been updated to Watch OS9 and do not update it!
That rules out all new watches from Apple.com such as Series 8 , SE2022 and Ultra which all come with OS9 already installed.
There are some Series 3 watches being sold at a discount by bargain stores, and Apple.com refurbished series 3, that can only go to OS8 but if you ever get a newer iphone it will be a devil to pair.
Also series 3 does not have fall detection
My advice is to upgrade to iPhone SE2022 and Watch SE2022

Fall detection came in with Watch Series 4. Series 4 started with OS 5 and can go all the way to OS9. You would have to find a pre-owned one that was still on OS8 or earlier and avoid updating it without the phone paired to it. Or a pre-owned or New-old-stock iphone 8 or later.
