Thumb pain help

What kind of protection can we use for the fingers and hands, when using the Macboo pro? My thumb first hurt in my right hand, then all the knuckles. Is there a compression glove or something that all people could use from the start, to avoid this nagging pain? Some advice would be welcome please. Ann.

You should talk to a hand specialist about your issues. Hand pain for any reason could indicate more serious underlying issues. Readers here are not qualified to advise you about that part of the problem.

For some users, a trackpad is simply not the ideal input device. Both its finger-gliding and its thumb-click can be a problem. Your Mac has many different accessibility options. As leroydouglas suggests, using your voice can be an option as well.

You could look for an alternative external device that better meet your needs. One that immediately comes to mind is a mouse that slides on a work surface, with an index finger click.

For many reasons, I use a rolling style mouse with my non-dominant hand. It took about a week to get pretty good dexterity for non-dominant hand use.

Your best bet for medical issue is to consult a Doctor who is qualified to address such issue.

I cannot stress strongly enough the need to get finger and thumb problems evaluated by competent medical people.

I went with a somewhat skittish friend who was going to have finger joint pain evaluated, and as expected, they sent us for an X-ray.

When the film was ready, the radiologist (not a technician) brought it out, and asked, "who are you taking this film back to?" It was clear from their body-language that if it was a general practitioner, we were not getting the film.

We answered, "Hand specialist and plastic surgeon."

"Oh, OK here you go."

When the hand specialist put the film on the light to display, they said, "Oh, an enchondroma. You will need to have surgery to get that out. Otherwise it will take over the bone, envelop the adjacent joint and turn it all to mush. By next year there will not be enough left to fix."

Enchondroma is a typeof benign bone tumor belonging to the group of cartilage tumors
