Is my iCloud account compromised?

Hi I have an old iCloud account with 6000 pictures. I think the account is compromised as I inside i found a note with a long password password that was not mine!

now can I download these pictures without leading the hacker to

my new account? Or is there a risk that I take malware with me to the new account? Can that be hidden in fotoos? Or anywhere Els in the iCloud account. Better delete the whole account with all the pictures?

It sounds more like you suffer from poor password management more than anything else. Use complex passwords, do not repeat their use across accounts, and enable two-factor authentication where possible. Also consider using passkeys on those sites that support them.

Thanks for your reply. I did change the password. Point is that someone seemed to have been inside already.

it might be because I had a simple password used for other things too.

it made me think that if I download any of these pictures they might be contaminated with malware. Or is that not so likely? My computer is contaminated, my old mobile phone behaves not like earlier. And my newer refurbished one is having trouble with passwords too. It is a mess. I keep passwords in different systems. So I make mistakes and typos I guess. Many things go wrong with passwords even if I just changed them. Can it be I change it in one system and not in another that therefore the new one is not recognized?

what is the best safest system for password management on an iPhone 12? Maybe I have to bring all my password to that one system. And change them, before or after they are in the new system?

this is so complex!
