Hi, I noticed that on my new iphone 14 that my camera is being by whatsapp even when the app is closed and removed from the background. Is that an iPhone bug or is it indeed being used and my security is compromised ? did this happen to anybody ?

It is an issue for Apple, the app uses the camera even when permission is blocked. So wpp is managing to avoid privacy settings of iOS. Apple shouldn’t allow for that.
I am facing similar issues with my camera being used on background by WhatsApp even when the app is not running. Does this mean something??
I am facing the same issue of whatsapp using my camera, even if I close the app in background and even if I turn of my camera access from the settings still it shows that whatsapp is using my camera, it is really scary but whenever that happens I just restart my device and it goes away.
Same here. I’m reading different articles about this and all I’m seeing is that we should just turn off the permissions. Which kind of sucks since I use the FaceTime option on there the most. Id say for safety reasons just turn it on and off everytime
I had the same issue. I uninstalled WhatsApp. Noticed the green light and then proceeded to shut my phone off. When I powered back on the light was gone and I reinstalled the app. Issue resolved. Hope this helps.
Did the same. Disappeared for a while. But it came back. The only solution is restarting the phone each time you get the green dot. Hopefully it’s just a bug and that the camera is not being used at that moment.

There is nothing for Apple to resolve; this is the way WhatsApp works. If you don’t like it complain to Meta, who owns WhatsApp, or stop using WhatsApp. Or go to Settings/Privacy & Security/Camera and turn off the switch for WhatsApp.
Did you delete the app or remove it from your Home screen? Go to the App Store and search for WhatsApp. Does it show a download icon, or does it say OPEN (meaning it is still on your phone). And did you restart your phone after removing it?

You can toggle off camera in WhatsApp settings, and turn off background app refresh
By the way my iPhone 15 pro IOS 17.1.1 WhatsApp is not doing it, when I close the camera the green light is going off
Did you update the iPhone IOS and the WhatsApp app in App Store
