How do I force time to update?

I have the clock set to automatically update to an NIST time server. Usually it's OK, but today its off. How do I force a re-sync without rebooting?

https://tf.nist.gov/tf-cgi/servers.cgi is the list of internet time servers.

I've tried changing servers (to apple and back)

manually changing the time, then asking to set automatically

and I always get back to the same 4 seconds fast.

It's not much - I may just have to reboot.

In don't remember much about it, but every OS has an adjuster built-in, so if your particular device is say slow every time it checks it keeps a file to build to figure out what the real time should be & adjusts it accordingly.

Perhaps an AppleScript to check & set it every so often? Sort of a start like this...
