You haven't purchased any movies on new Apple TV 4k.

I went to watch a movie from my iTunes library today on my Apple TV 4k (latest model), and found my library was empty. I was shown a message stating I had not purchased any movies. However, if I looked up a movie via search that I own, I was given the play (not purchase) option. I tried a full factory reset (with downloading latest update), and nothing has changed. I checked a prior model Apple TV 4k on a different TV, and all library content was present. I also checked the iTunes app on my PC and the Apple TV app on my Mac, and all content was present. This is only broken on the latest model box (which happens to be attached to where I watch the most content).

I have had this issue for over 4 years now. I was told 4 years ago that they are aware of the issue and their development team is aware. Don’t expect a resolution in this decade. Maybe it will be solved by 2030. Fingers crossed. On a serious note Apple needs to fix this! If I hadn’t already purchased 3 Apple TV’s I’m not sure I would continue to use one. I have a few Roku’s and Firesticks and they pull my library from the TV App with no issues what so ever. These are devices that can be obtained for $25 now days. Sad to see a device with a $150 price tag (at release) cannot perform the simple functions that a $25 one can.

I have already read this.

1 - Update to the latest version of the Apple TV app - Device is on latest update and has even been fully reset - no change

2 - If the movie or TV show won't start playing - does not apply. AppleTV app on latest Apple TV says I do not own anything, so there is nothing that I can try to play. (older Apple TV boxes work properly)

3 - If the video quality is bad or it stops playing - Does not apply, see #2

Hey Algeron,

If all of your content is missing from only one device, that likely means that something specific to that device is at play. It might not be a bad idea to make sure that you're signed into the correct Apple ID, as all of those purchases would be tied to that account, and if the wrong account, or no account at all is signed in, they wouldn't appear. To do that, open up the Settings app on the Apple TV and go to Users & Accounts. Then make sure that your account is signed in and if so, select the account and it will list the Apple ID email address there. If you happen to have multiple users set up with different Apple IDs, you may just need to switch accounts for your purchased content to show up.

Report back what you find out.

Take care

As I mentioned, I did a full reset of the device and reconfigured it. It shows my family. If I look in the app store and pick a movie I own, I have the PLAY option. Just the Library is where the issue is.

I called Apple Support, and they told me to take it to the Apple store and exchange it. Just got the new one home and will set that one up in a minute.
