Can you pair two Apple Watches together?

Here's the problem we're trying to solve. Mom has Alzheimer's, Dad has a sound mind, but physical issues. Because she has been "wandering" from the house at all hours, Mom has an Apple Watch that is currently paired to Dad's phone for tracking purposes. However, Dad doesn't take his phone with him as he should. We want to get him an Apple Watch because of concerns about falling, etc.

IF ( big IF) he wears it, he will have it with him at all times. Can we unpair his iPhone from her Apple Watch, and, instead pair the two Apple Watches together? Every time I try to Google it, all answers turn to pairing with a phone, despite excluding phone from the search. Thank you in advance.

No. Watches can only be paired to iPhones. There is no way to pair them to another watch. And even if you could, tracking doesn’t depend on a specific device.

You can track one device from another if they are using the Same Apple ID.

Your best option would be to pair one of the watches to a different iPhone, and then share the location of the watc ofer Family Sharing so the other iPhone and watch can see and track it.
