How do I turn off the white text correction/prediction bubble when composing a text?

Settings > General > Keyboard > Predictive = “off”

Why has editing on iPhone changed? Why has apple made a change to the way editing of text and messages is done? In the past you could easily insert text between words. Now it highlights the entire adjacent word (s) and the word is either deleted when you go to insert or change a word and/or error. Super annoying apple. Why have you made this annoying change?
