Troubleshooting Facebook:
Two thoughts...
A. Scan for Malware:
Scan with Malwarebytes for Mac:
Malwarebytes searches for malware (short for (malicious software) and spyware. Those make your Mac act in a mislead manor. So scan with it, and remove what is found from the quarantine. It is created by longtime users of these forums making it the only reliable Security Software for a Mac. If synced with iPad connected, it may have got installed on your Mac.

B. Clear your Temporary Internet Files:
Boot into Safe Mode and then Clear your Temporary Internet Files of Safari:
Could be malware... possibly, BUT !!
Symptoms are uncontrolled up done and over scroll on up or down input or automatic continued scrolling with no input from mouse.
Happens on Safari M1 Mini Ventura (no firewall no virus scanning)
AND
Happens on Safari M1 Mini Monterey (scanned with Malwarebytes and Avast daily)

It started yesterday for me too - MacBook Pro using Safari. If I move cursor off to side of main Facebook feed the scrolling stops. It doesn't return when cursor put back on main feed but as soon as I try and scroll again away it goes... I'll report it.
I've seen several complaints on this, I don't do FaceBook, but since it's not gazillions complaining, I doubt it's a bug with FaceBook as those conclude.
I have the same problem since 2 days.Only on Facebook and macbook Really annoying. I'am experiencing it on all my Facebook accounts.

My MacBook Pro is also doing the same thing while on Facebook through Safari. It just started yesterday. I've update everything and it's still doing it.
It has happened before today, but today it is horrendous. I wonder if it has something to do with the new OS update.
this is awful - Apple needs to fix this problem. Phone is working fine - but not my Apple desktop. Hope they fix issue soon or I will get rid of all apple - tired of the problems

Can't believe this hasn't been addressed by Apple or Facebook yet! I've been dealing with this on by MacBook Pro M1 for a week now.
Only on facebook! All other apps seem fine here. As everyone else has said, VERY ANNOYING !!!
I just want to go on the record that this just started happening to me too. I hope it's fixed soon. Nothing I have tried will fix it.
