If a file is deleted from desktop will it be deleted from iCloud?

When iCloud Drive and desktops and documents box is checked from Mac system preferences Use iCloud Drive to store documents on your Mac and iOS devices - Apple Support , deleting the file from finder > iCloud section > Documents will also delete from iCloud.com
