Icloud and mac storage
Does Icloud only copy files on the Mac? If I delete them off the Mac they are also deleted on Icloud?

iCloud is a syncing service. If you delete a file from the iCloud Drive folder (or Desktop and Documents if you have that option turned on) it will also be deleted from iCloud.
If you want to reduce the storage needed on the Mac, turn on the Optimize Mac Storage option of iCloud Drive. On recent macOS versions that option is now named "Store in iCloud." See: Optimize storage space on your Mac - Apple Support
