iMessage auto delete

I would like to exclude specific contacts from the 1 year auto delete feature. I have messages saved from my ex that I am currently using for trial and want to keep messages from my current girlfriend forever. Is there any way to delete everything else besides these two contacts? Or a way to exclude specific contacts from deleting automatically? Right now it feels like the only way to do this is to individually delete every message thread I’ve had since 2015.
