Hello Connierb,

You mentioned this is occurring when using Facebook on your iPad. The steps we take to address this will depend on whether this occurs in any other apps on your iPad. If you're seeing this behavior in other apps, it may be an issue with the display and If the screen isn't working on your iPhone or iPad has some great steps that can help address display issues.

"If your screen is too sensitive or responds intermittently to touch

  1. Restart your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Make sure that your screen is clean and free of any debris or water.
  3. Disconnect any Lightning or USB-C accessories. If your screen works after removing an accessory, try using a different outlet, cable, or charger.
  4. Remove any cases or screen protectors."

If this only occurs within the Facebook app, we recommend using the steps below to isolate the issue. Test to see if the behavior persists after each.

  1. Close and reopen the app with the steps in Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch.
  2. Restart your iPad.
  3. Update your iPhone or iPad.
  4. Check for updates in the App Store using the steps in How to manually update apps on your Apple device.
  5. Delete the app using Delete apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch then redownload it with Redownload apps and games from Apple.

If the behavior persists only in the Facebook app after completing the steps above, we recommend reporting this issue to the app developer: How to contact an app developer

Regards.
