iTunes media folder location

my PC is W10 running (at the moment) iTunes 12.12.7.1

Advanced settings - media folder location: drive/folder/itunes/itunes media

Each time iTunes is launched, including SHIFTlaunch, the media folder location is changed to

drive/folder/itunes/itunes media/itunes media

This causes problems - new downloads are saved in itunes media/itunes media/artist/album......

Secondary issue - although itunes media folder location is set itunes/itunes media

new folders are created

drive/folder/itunes/itunes media/apple music/artist/... AND

drive/folder/itunes/itunes media/music/artist/...... AND

drive/folder/itunes/itunes media/itunes media/apple music/artist/...AND

drive/folder/itunes/itunes media/itunes media/music/artist

Keep iTunes Media folder organized (as if) Y

Copy files to iTunes Media folder when making additions Y

This statement suggests that your .itl is stored in drive/folder/itunes/itunes media rather than drive/folder/itunes. Move the .itl file into the iTunes folder, shift-start-iTunes and connect to it, turn Keep organize off and back on again, which should move everything into the correct folders, then delete the now redundant deeper iTunes Media folder.
