I can't type in some numbers and letters on my MacBook Air keyboard

I can't type in some numbers and letters on my keyboard: 7 8 9 u I o j k l m. this is a new lsaptop i bought 3 days ago. i took it back, they ran tests said it is all working. so i drove home 35 minutes away and i still cannot enter my password with 8 as part of my password.

Yes. All you have to do is turn OFF the special Mouse Keys feature in the Accessibility settings to fix this. stedman1 gave you a link.

Google "789uiojkl" to see some info about this. You just have to turn OFF Mouse Keys in your accessibility preferences. Sometimes hitting the Option key 5 times will do it too.
