How can I put music ringtones for my contacts without purchasing iTunes?

How can I download ringtones for my iPad and iPhone? I recently switch from Samsung to Apple. Now I have a IPad and a iPhone. With my android I was able to download different ringtones for different contacts. And it was free! This was nice to be able to do that so I knew who was calling before I answered it. Does Apple have any like that? And if so do you have to pay for it? If you do Is it a one time purchase? And how can I go about doing this? I could use all the help I can get. Oh and one other thing I am pretty stupid when it comes to technology. So if possible maybe you could make it as simple as possible Thanks [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Using ringtones as text tones Since I downloaded the new iOS, iOS 17, my iPhone won’t allow me to use my ringtones as text tones. They’re in my ringtones list, but when I click the download ringtones from iTunes in my text tones, they don’t show up. I’ve even purchased new ones through the prompt that leads you from the text tones menu to the tones store, but still nothing. I just factory reset my phone as well, and still nothing. I’ve even tried to go through my contacts to assign text tones to that contact and it only gives me the general list, without my purchased ringtones.Please let me know if I’m just not doing something correctly, and what I can do to get the use I intended from my ringtones. Thank you!!!!

Here is the link on changing your ringtones but if you want a ringtone from a song you like you will have to pay for the song you want as your ringtone on iTunes. If you already made one or don’t want to pay for a song you can make yourself a custom ringtone but will require a Mac with Finder or Windows with iTunes. - Use tones and ringtones with your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
