Music cuts out frequently with Apple Music

Why does the music cut out repeatedly on my iPhone 13 while I'm listening to Apple Music, especially when walking and listening in my neighborhood? It drops out for a few seconds then intermittently sputters then begins playing normally again only to drop out again in a few hundred feet of walking. I am never able to enjoy Apple Music because of this. This happens with direct playback through the phone's speakers, through AirPods, or Bluetooth headphones. What would cause this and what would be the solution?

Does this happen to downloaded songs or songs that are being streamed? These steps may help:


"How to download music from Apple Music on your iPhone, iPad, or Android

  1. Open the Apple Music app.
  2. Add a song, album, or playlist to your library.
  3. Touch and hold the song, album, or playlist that you added from Apple Music.
  4. Tap Download.iPhone showing Download"
