iPhone tone to not working to open our community gate

Our community has a call-box at the gate that allows visitors to contact the person they are visiting to be allowed in. Owners in the community press the “9” key to activate the gate opening. For the past several months (nearly a year, possibly?) this is not working for several of our Owners. The gate people say it has to do with Apple lowering the volume of the tone sent from the iPhones. The iPhones vary from the iPhone 8 to more current phones.

Can someone tell me 1) if this is true, and 2) how it it can be corrected?

This doesn't help at all. It's not the volume of the tone, its the length. Our gate software does not recognize the shorter tones newer iPhones use. I have spoken to the owner of the call box, and they say the DTMS tones are to blame.

Our residents are unable to open the gate from their iPhones to let guests in.

I see that this has been a problem for others since 2019 -- it's now 2023. When will Apple correct this problem?

Hi Faisdodo121,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you'd like to learn more about the volume of the numbers being dialed on an iPhone.

The volume of the keypad on the iPhone can either be enabled or silenced using the Ring/Silent switch on the side of the iPhone as outlined here: Use the side, Home, and other buttons on your iPhone - Apple Support

"Use the ring/silent switch to mute sounds and alerts.

If the switch shows orange, it means your iPhone is in silent mode and will vibrate for incoming calls or alerts. When in silent mode, the alarms you set in the Clock app will still sound, and calls from Favorite contacts will still ring."

The volume of the tone of the keys being pressed isn't adjustable itself.

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
