when i try to make menu selection while inside a phone call my Iphone 14 does not generate a tone when i press a number key

Dependent upon how the menu for the phone number you're calling is set up, this may be normal behavior. Does this happen when calling different companies with different menus? If your iPhone works for dialing numbers otherwise, this could be an issue with the actual menu from the company you're calling. Have you tried reaching out to them through another channel to see if you can reach them a different way?

Also, make sure you've tried restarting your iPhone to see if that makes a difference: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

I’ve also met cases where specific callers’ phones were malfunctioning too, but there’s no way to tell that around here. One in particular had a janky phone, and the noise stopped when they replaced it.
