safari to use only English

Safari displays always in the local language and that is very inconvenient because I travel a lot.

How to set Safari to only use the English language?

Hi there Lance.scs,

You can follow the steps below to ensure you have English selected as the language you use for Safari:

Choose the language you use for individual apps
1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, click General  in the sidebar, then click Language & Region on the right. (You may need to scroll down.)
2. Go to Applications, then do any of the following:
- Choose a language for an app: Click the Add button , choose an app and a language from the pop-up menus, then click Add.
- Change the language for an app in the list: Select the app, then choose a new language from the pop-up menu.
- Remove an app from the list: Select the app, then click the Remove button . The app uses the default language again.

If the app is open, you may need to close and then reopen it to see the change.

With that said, it's possible that some websites you visit won't be available in English. You could potential translate them using the guidance in this support article: Translate a webpage in Safari on Mac - Apple Support

Take care.

Hi Sparks0829,

thanks for your reply. This is a known way to change the language, thanks anyways.

Further, if no other language is specified, the system language will apply to any program.

My system language is American English end you cannot stipulate that in the language drop-down menu.

My point was/is that opening any site in Safari, it may occur that the site opens in the local language and only

when I click 'back to English' the language changes. Some sites are only available in the local language, that we know and sometimes it is possible to use the 'Translate this site' option. Understandable.

What I would like is that all sites, except the ones which are local-only, open in the System Language.

It seems that this option is not available.
