Why is my distance marker gone?

Updated iOS to 16.1.2 and I haven’t found a single app that doesn’t glitch somehow, worst mistake I’ve ever made.

This specific issue is about Apple Maps. Normally, there’s a little marker/legend in the top or bottom corner of my phone that shows tells me the scale of the map, with the distance marker changing every time I moved in or out. Now, it’s gone.

Please help me bring it back. I would also appreciate any tips to deal with the many many glitches brought about by iOS 16.

You will need to be specific about the problems you're having. We're none of us here mindreaders. Personally, I've had no issues with iOS 16, and, based on the traffic on this forum, it hasn't been any more buggy than most updates.

What I generally recommend if you're having a lot of problems after an update, especially a major one, is to restore the phone to factory state using a computer. The using computer part is key. This will install a fresh copy of iOS to the device. It's possible something went wrong with your original installation. Of course, back up first. Then, when you've completed the restoration, test and see if you're having the same problems. If not, restore from the backup.

After force-closing and reopening the app 50 times it randomly showed up again….

Does anyone know why this latest software update is so bad? After 10 years of having an iPhone this is the first update that’s made me consider switching to Samsung. My phone is practically unusable.
