Using sound check with Dolby Atmos

Why would Apple recommend listeners turn on sound check for regulating the volume of Dolby Atmos tracks? I had sound check toggled on and was highly disappointed in the Atmos mixes of A.i.Cs Dirt and Facelift. Took them out of my library. Moved on. Then, one day, had the idea of turning sound check off and giving them another spin and … wow!!! If you’ve had sound check turned on this whole time, I would recommend turning it off and seeing what happens to the Dolby Atmos tracks you have.

Thing is I was having all kinds of problems with gaps between songs, mixes not sounding right, even skipping of songs. So I read on one of Apple’s Dolby Atmos pages to put on the sound check. It didn’t fix anything and I personally feel it’s a bad feature, like the equalizer, because it alters the music. I understand Dolby Atmos tracks are at a lower volume, messing up shuffles. But Apple Music has dedicated playlists for Dolby Atmos, too. Maybe they can develop a new filter. I listen to full albums mostly and am tripping on these awesome new mixes…….and still bummed about all the hackers shamelessly trying to screw up their neighbors’ listening experiences
