Airdrop photos from iPhone to macbook

When I airdrop my photos from my iPhone to my MacBook it is automatically accepted into my downloads folder. How do I I get the option to accept the airdropped photos into photos on MacBook. This is an issue because when I transfer the photos from downloads to photos, the “live” photos are now still.

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We understand you want to change the destination location when you AirDrop a file to your Mac. Apple has set the destination folder to be Downloads folder by default. There isn't a setting to change this. You can provide feedback to Apple.
