Whatsapp Memory not saving

My whatsapp memory is not getting saved. When I click manage storage on whatsapp it shows 0kb. Media in the chat history stops being available within the same day or the next day. I can see it on Whatsapp web for some reason but not on my iphone chat. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling whatsapp but it has not helped.

The problem is that when I go to backup my whatsapp, because the storage shows 0kb it does not backup any media. Please help, I found nothing like this on google.

Manage Storage Manage Storage on WhatsApp is buffering and then it closes out. I have uninstalled and reinstalled WhatsApp and also cleared chats
