Dolby Atmos and airplay

Am I correct in thinking playback of a Dolby Atmos as well as any track with a res higher than 48k gets downsampled? ie Dolby Atmos doesn't work with Airplay.

If that's the case: Is there a way to play a Dolby Atmos track to an external amplifier via a HDMI connection?

How do I listen to Dolby Atmos Music on an AV receiver without an Apple TV 4K? I understand that, in order to get Dolby Atmos to be playedback on a home theatre, you need an Apple TV connected to an AV receiver. Is it possible to listen to Dolby Atmos on a Mac or PC in Apple Music (or iTunes, in case of Windows PC) connected to an AV receiver? the HDMI out of a Mac doesn't seem to be able to transmit a Dolby Atmos signal. Lossless and/or Spatial Audio with Sonos I'm wondering if Apple Music is working on extending support to the Sonos ecosystem for Lossless music playback. I know they wouldn't be capable of Hi-Res Lossless, but even the standard lossless would be great for me! Also, it'd be interesting to hear Dolby Atmos music with compatible Sonos soundbars. I know Apple TV 4K supports Lossless and Dolby Atmos playback on Sonos, but it'd just be a more convenient experience to be able to stream it from my phone, for example. I know this question has been asked in the Sonos forums, but I didn't find much about it here.
