Removal from Group Text

Leaving a group message is only an option if everyone in the group is using iMessage. If anyone is using SMS, you will need to ask the people in the group to create a new group without you.

You should still be able to mute the alerts for the group, though.

So, if you start at the main conversation screen in Messages, put your finger on the group conversation and pull to the left, you don't see the purple box with a bell in it? You should be able to tap on that to mute alerts from that conversation.
