Will your iPhone not turn off? If so, then you need to unfreeze it. Refer to the following...
Troubleshooting a Frozen iPhone:
A. Start with a Force Restart:
Go Here: Force Restart iPhone - Apple Support
B. Try the Tips at these Apple Support Links:
See this article, especially “Always-On display goes dark when you don’t need it”:
Use Always-On display with your iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max - Apple Support
The next review I write won’t be so kind and addressed directly to Apple. I’ve called Support FIVE times and spent time with a very nice representative today at your Genius Bar and NO one has a workable solution to my problem. My Always On Display stops working every day and no one can tell me if this problem will be addressed in your next iOS update.
I pay for the most expensive insurance plan for my 14 Pro and yet Apple wouldn’t replace it today with one that works properly.
I am not a happy camper!
You have asked us to guess the details of your issue.
Perhaps they’re addressed here.
If the screen isn't working on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
The screen is working fine. It’s the Always on Display shutting off I’m asking about.
Thanks!
You are not talking to Apple in these forums.
Thanks! Just thought maybe someone monitoring the site would see it.

The article I linked above lists eight bullet points explaining why this might be occurring.
Thanks!
Glad I was able to help.
