I received official looking text message, saying my Apple ID number had been locked, and that I needed to select the hyperlink and follow instructions to unlock my account

I have received a text apparently from Apple saying that my account number has been locked. There is a hyperlink in the text with instructions to click on it and follow the instructions to unlock my ID number is this a true apple text as it has company address attached to it, but this is my first Apple device and I’m not sure if it’s a scam or not

It sounds like a scam/phishing attempt. DO NOT give any personal info to anyone, DO NOT tap/click on any links.

I would not click it, most likely a scam. And your able ID is an email not a number.

Rule no. 1: never trust any link. Even if you get follow-ups. If your ID is going to get blocked let it get make sure you always keep recovery options like phone number.
