Using SuperDrive with iMAC

Connected SuperDrive via USB Multiport adaptor and USB-C port and received "USB Accessory needs power. Connect to USB port." There is none on my iMac. That's why I bought the Multiport. So, what's wrong?

did you get the apple branded USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter? because that one should allow your superdrive to work with your M1 iMac. but the superdrive will not work with hubs or docks.
