Autoflow of threaded text boxes in Pages

dmoonw posted this in 2017, and I'm having the same problem in Pages 12.1 (Big Sur 11.7.2):

In Pages 6.3, the threads feature allowing linked text boxes appears to change text when one changes the order or page that a linked text box is on. For example, I am creating a 4 page booklet using Letter sized paper in landscape orientation. I set up 2 columns and create a text box that starts in the first page, right hand column. The second linked text box will be on the second page, left hand column. The third linked text box is on the second page, right hand column. The fourth linked text box needs to be on the first page, Left hand column. But the text will automatically reflow and become the beginning text column.

I just tried Pages 12.2 on a newer machine (Ventura 13.1), and it doesn't seem any different.

Has anything changed? Is there any way to overrule this behavior? Seems like a fold-in-the-middle bulletin would be a very common use case for a page layout program.

Hi Bon,

That's the way Pages linked text boxes are built to work. The flow is from top to bottom of the document.

Your best solution for the present might be to separate the page 4 box from the linked three, then fill it 'manually' as an independent page.

While using that workaround, you may want to Provide Pages Feedback using the menu item of that name in the Pages menu to send a Feature enhancement request directly to Apple.
