I'm running iTunes 32 bit ver. 12.7.3.46 on Windows 10 (64 bit). I have an iPhone 7 running ios 12.4. If I upgrade the iTunes 32 bit to 64 bit, will I lose compatibility with my iPhone 7 ? (I don't want to upgrade the iphone os)

When upgrading from within iTunes 32 bit for Windows 10, is the 64 bit upgrade selected by default or does it upgrade with 32 bit? After the upgrade, are remote locations (like a NAS) retained for the library and backups?

I'm pretty sure you will need to remove your current 32-bit version of iTunes before you can install the 64-bit version. Your settings should be preserved. iTunes is backwards compatible with older versions of iOS. Backups should remain in place as long as you don't switch to the Microsoft Store version which saves its backups in a different location to one used by the traditional iTunes(64)Setup.exe installers.

Ok, and if I understand you correctly, I'd uninstall iTunes 32 bit, thus I'd download and install the 64 bit version (but not from the Microsoft Store).

Backup location will remain the same (as I've previously redirected it to a non-system drive).

Meant to also ask about the library file. I've redirected that to a location on my NAS. I'm assuming I'd simply point the new 64 bit install at that location for the library?
