Deleting apps

Hi guys! My question might sound really silly but it’s true! When I hold on apps I don’t want and the minus button shows up, I press it and it says “Remove from Home Screen? This will keep the app safe in your App Library” And then I’ll try to edit my home screen and press the delete button on apps but it will only stay in the library. So all in all, my question is, how do I delete my apps?
