I keep getting a Login Items Notification on my MacBook Air

Hi,

I am running a MacBook Air 2019. Recently I set a radio app to Open At Login.  After a couple of days, I decided that I didn’t want it opening automatically anymore, so I removed it.  Ever since, I keep getting a Login Items Notification appearing in the upper right corner a moment after I start the computer.  After another moment, a second identical notification appears.

I have set the Notifications Center to "Never" but the notifications still appear.  What can I do to permanently remove these?

Thanks.

Hi mikefromcaledon,

Try testing your Mac in safe mode, then restarting it normally. This will start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks and prevents some software from automatically loading or opening. If the issue doesn't continue while in safe mode, exit safe mode by restarting your Mac normally. Then test for the issue again. The issue might be resolved.

This article will walk you through the steps: How to use safe mode on your Mac.

Apple silicon
1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

Intel processor
1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window.

If the issue persists, you may consider uninstalling the app. Keep in mind that when you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app: Uninstall apps on your Mac.

Regards.

Thanks for the additional information, mikefromcaledon. From here, we'd recommend checking to see if there's any updates for your apps on your Mac: How to manually update apps on your Apple device

How to manually update apps on your Mac
1) Open the App Store.
2) In the sidebar, click Updates.
3) Click Update next to an app to update only that app, or click Update All.

If there's not, or this doesn't help, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support: Contact Apple Support

Hi MVegas21,

Thank you for your reply. I tried the safe more idea. It didn't work! The Notifications didn't appear in Safe Mode, but when I started the computer normally, not only were they back, but now I have three of them whereas before this I had two! I tried uninstalling the app that caused this, (even though I have had it for over a year, just not set up in the "Open at Login") but even after uninstalling it, the problem is still there. I wondered if Ventura 13.1 might be causing the problem, so I updated to 13.2, and it made no difference. Whatever is causing this issue, it seems to be getting worse with three instances of it today instead of two. Help!!!!!

Thanks.
