Family Sharing - Apple ID sign out restrictions & problems with child accepting invitation

I cannot log out of my Apple ID on my Iphone XR because of this Family Sharing - when I send an invite to my child, he clicks to accept and it says: " you are already a member of another family. You can only be a member of one family at a time" .... yet, you cannot take the child OFF Family Sharing until they accept another invite - any ideas how to get out of this LOOP?

Hi DSAC67,

The following steps address what you're describing specifically, and should provide a solution:

"Approve the request

If you're the child's current family organizer, you receive a notification after an organizer from another family group invites the child to join their family. You can approve from the notification or use these steps. After you approve, the child moves from your family group to the other family group.

Learn what happens after a family member leaves

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. If the child uses Apple Card Family or Apple Cash Family, close the child's Apple Cash account and remove them from the shared Apple Card account.
  2. If you set up an Apple Watch for the child, use the Watch app on your iPhone or iPad to remove the device. The new parent or guardian can set up the watch in their family group later.
  3. To approve the invite, go to Settings.
  4. Below your name, find a notification that says "Family Transfer Request."
  5. Tap the notification and follow the onscreen instructions."

If you have followed the steps correctly and you still have the issue, let us know if you get any specific alerts or error messages when trying, as those may help us determine what might be causing the issue.

We also recommend restarting your device and keeping it updated as those steps assure you have cleared out any minor software issues and are running the most current version.
