iPad Magic Keyboard Backlight not automatically adjusting.

Ever since apple added the keyboard brightness option in the control center, I used it. However since then the keyboard would not adjust automatically based on my rooms lighting, I always have to manually turn on and off depending the keyboard backlight on where I am. This function always used to work, now I removed the control center shortcut, but I still have the same issue. I tried removing the keyboard, restarting the iPad, and adjusting the keyboard brightness slider in settings. Nothing works! I know many people wanted an option to remove this auto feature, but I loved it and want it back!

Hello, I have now resolved this issue! All I did was remove that slider in the control center, and in settings I set the keyboard brightness to the middle. After a restart I didn’t really realise much change, but through these 2 weeks I have realised that it started working again. I didn’t update or anything since I was on the latest update. I wonder if anyone else has had this issue, but here is a solution! I guess if you don’t like the automatic brightness option, you could technically turn it off with this bug. But I’m glad that this works now and I don’t need to bother changing the brightness manually again!

Hello I_like-Apples,

We would like to see how we can help you with your keyboard not working as expected. Which version of iPadOS are you currently running? Just to confirm, have you turned off the Magic Keyboard and powered it back on? Slide the switch to turn off the device (no green is visible), then slide the switch back to turn on the device (green becomes visible).

Also, take a look at the following page that has some information that can help you with adjusting the brightness on your iPad:

Adjust the brightness and color temperature on your iPhone or iPad

Cheers!
