How to set up an account on a new Mac

I bought a new MacBook Air and transferred an account from my old MacBook Pro to the new system. The new system will not let me log into this account, will not let log into or create another account, and will not allow me to boot in recovery mode (Command R).

Hi Praxagora,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. We'd like to try and help so you can get access to your new MacBook Air.

Let's start here, Reset your Mac login password - Apple Support. We've placed one of the steps below for you to try.

Reset your login password using your Apple ID
If you associated your user account with your Apple ID, you can use your Apple ID to reset your login password.

1: Choose Apple menu > Restart, or press the Power button on your computer and then click Restart.

2: Click your user account, click the question mark in the password field, then click the arrow next to “reset it using your Apple ID.”

3: Enter an Apple ID and password, then click Next.

Follow the instructions to reset your login password.

If you still can't access your MacBook Air, let us know how you transferred the data.

Take care!
