Favicons gone in Safari

I just updated Safari to v16.3 running in MacOS 11.7.3

Safari no longer displays any favicons in the URL field.

Also, the favicons have disappeared from my start page.

I tried deleting the Favicon Cache but that does nothing. Restarting Safari does nothing either.

Is this a known issue?

Has Safari done away with favicons?

I'd appreciate any help....

Safari 18 also missing FavIcons. Team, Is there something I’m doing wrong, or could this be an issue with Safari 18? I have a lot of bookmarks, as I use Safari to organize my architectural library, which includes product catalogs for construction materials. The bookmarks are organized within the MasterFormat, with subfolders for each subcategory. I’ve tried everything—deleting the FavIcon folder, revisiting the web pages to regenerate the FavIcons—but every time I quit and reopen Safari, all the icons are deleted automatically. I’ve spent at least a week updating the FavIcons, but they don’t remain visible after restarting Safari. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Safari is not showing the Favicons on the Favourites / Bookmarks Bar Safari on Monterey 12.6, is not showing the Favicons on the Favourites / Bookmarks Bar. The Favicons are populated and showing in the bookmarks folder / page. Is there anyway to correct this, or is this a feature that Apple has nonsensically decided to remove? After Chrome was eating away at my battery by having it running in multiple spaces, on my new M2 MacBook Air, I decided to switch to Safari. I am starting to realise why everyone uses Chrome. Thanks

I've been having this problem too, tried clearing the favicon cache etc. and it made no difference. I do see favicons in some of the tabs (but not all), but zero favicons appear on the start page. I really hope someone figures this out or finds a solution.

Good to know it's not just me. I spent a lot of time searching the Apple Community for help.

Always reluctant to go through all the hoops for trying to fix these types of issues.

I've also sent a Bug Report. Hope it's addressed and fixed.

I just emptied the Favicon Cache folder to see what happens.

When I visit various websites, then new items appear in the folder.

However, if I QuickLook these items, some show an icon image, but most are blank.

Is there some kind of format mismatch?

I just updated Safari to Version 16.3.1 (16614.4.6.11.7, 16614) running in MacOS 11.7.4

Safari no longer displays any favicons in the URL field.

Also, the favicons have disappeared from my start page.

Previous Safari update already solve favicons problem and it come back after the latest update today 17-FEB-2023

How do i get back the old update

PS:

My Start Page is set to show Top Sites.

The arrangement of sites is a mess and appears to have been randomized.

In the side bar bookmarks I have just few icons properly displayed, most have instead the standard “blue globe” icon.

I too have this problem after updating Safari v16.3. Have tried restart of safari and laptop to no effect.

An update to Safari just showed up in System Preferences - still called 16.3

Installed....sadly no change.

No favicons on the Start Page.

Well that's good news. I have Safari 16.3 sitting in Software Update, I'll wait for the Big Sur 11.7.4 and install both.
