15” MacBook Pro 9,1 (mid-2012) can’t install any operating system

Hello. I have a 15” MacBook Pro 9,1 (mid-2012) that I put a new SSD in but I can’t install any operating system. I took to Apple Genius Bar and they ran test on hard ware and it all passed, got it to boot from their network drive but couldn’t get it to install an operating system either??? We checked firmware and diagnostics all passed… What could be causing this? Please help🤪

one way to separate out issues with the 'surgery' and internal connections from issues with the drive:

Install the new Drive in an external enclosure. Any interface including USB-2 will be fast enough for now.

Install MacOS on it from Internet recovery mode.

boot from the new macOS install and you can even begin to set it up if you like.

Once you are happy with it, do the surgery to move that WORKING drive inside your Mac.

any issues at this point are caused by cable and connection problems.

It would help if you provided more details such as what happens when you try to install macOS such as at what point the installation fails and the exact error message. Plus how you are acquiring the installer and making any bootable macOS USB installers.

Try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected (may detect an issue with a third party SSD which may be normal).

Maybe there is some other hardware issue with the laptop besides the internal drive you replaced. Unfortunately the diagnostics don't detect all failures.
